The people listed below were appointed honorary members or members of merit at the General Meeting because of their special contributions and exceptional commitment to the association. We would like to thank them warmly and put them in the spotlight here!
Honorary members
Martin Bos
Together with Peter Hoogenshuis, Jean-Paul Hofkens and Harm Scholte, Martin Bos is responsible for founding our beautiful association.
Patrick Hoekstra
Patrick was active as the swimming trainer of Aloha for many years.
Marcel Meinema
Marcel Meinema has been active for years within Aloha and Stichting UT-Triathlon. He has also been active within the NTB (Dutch Triathlon Federation). Marcel was also involved in the startup of the Dutch triathlon competitions.
Heleen bij de Vaate
Heleen bij de Vaate has put Aloha on the map as a triathlon association by competing in triathlon on an international level. She won Ironman Arizona in 2008 and has won many prizes on an (inter)national level.
Members of merit
Lieke ten Hove
Lieke ten Hove has been very active for the association both during and after her time at Aloha. She took up the role of chairman in 2013-2014 when no board could be found. Next to that, she has remained very active for the association through her work for the UT-Triathlon Stichting and her work at the NTB (Dutch Triathlon Federation).
Thijs Hekman
Thijs Hekman has been an active member of D.S.T.V. Aloha for a very long time. During this period he has shown his commitment to the association through various ways. He has been a member of the board for 3 times (2008-2009, 2009-2010, 2013-2014). Furthermore, he has been an extraordinarily active member within committees, like the UTT or the unexpected pie committee, the ToKoCo. Next to all this, he is a very valuable swimming trainer for the association.
Eva Juffermans
Eva Juffermans has been particularly active for Aloha and the UT-Triathlon foundation for a long time, serving on several boards (2015-2016, 2016 & 2019), as well as being a cycling trainer at Aloha. In addition, Eva has been in the UT-Triathlon foundation for many years, even though she now no longer lives in Enschede. She has also made many contributions to various Aloha committees, such as the BaCo, the Lustrum committee, the TC and the CvA.
By the way, the Aloha flower logo was also designed by Eva!
Izak Hanse
Izak Hanse has been active for both Aloha and the UT Triathlon foundation for a very long time. For example, he was a member of the 2014-2015 board, and was UTT treasurer for many years. For Aloha, Izak has taught coretraining and cycle training for a long time, and was team captain in the division races. He also served on the EC, and often took on the organisation of the Batavierenrace – even for the Mahalo team while he was already no longer living in Enschede.
